i quit my job, y'all.

after thursday's post, it may seem strange, but believe it. i've quit my job as vice president of world-renowned interior design firm laura u and yesterday was the end. today the sky is my oyster and pearls are the limit, or something like that.

in all seriousness, though, as much as it killed me to walk away from a great gig, it was time for me to move on. it's actually BEEN time to move on for a long time, but my love for my coworkers and our clients runs so deep that it was hard to take the leap and say goodbye. i resigned october 1st and every day for the past month has been a continuous series of huge-lump-in-my-throat-don't-cry-don't-cry-go-eat-like-nine-xanax moments. it was really, really tough to leave and i almost changed my mind a million times.

but ultimately, i think there is more out there for me. sugarbears believes in me and in the most humbling way, so do other people? so cross your fingers for me, be-hotches, and stay tuned.

applicants for our internship program are always a bit surprised to hear that REAL interior design is like, 4% coming up with design ideas and concepts and 96% problem-solving and-slash-or dealing with some generally unpleasant situations, so this is a SHOUT OUT (what, what) to all my real interior designer peeps out there: you know what i'm talking about.

more great advice from oprah.

aloha, beyotches! we are in hawaii for the week and having a delightful time maxing and relaxing on the beach. intermittent pinterest action on the ol' iphone revealed this gem from the ever-brilliant oprah, and i'd just like to mention that if you've got a minute, check out the accompanying post on positive relationships at whoorl.com. it's a great message and definitely a nice reminder that we are all very much in control of our own happiness. i hope you're all having a wonderful day, and if you're not, the westminster dog show is on. if watching that shit doesn't cheer you up then nothing will.

frolicsome.

after a long weekend of shredding and internet browsing, i'm fully recharged (albeit a little sleepy), completely inspired and ready to rock. this wood-cut quote (above) kind of sums it up. also i bought these pants in park city so i'm totes on the prowl. MEEEEEEE-OW, mo-fo's. these pants are like frolicsome and dangerous and noble and improbable all rolled into one and then personified.

i consider them step one of many in an effort to be more frolicsome, but b-rad describes them as 'daytime hooker-wear'. little does he know, i have ALWAYS identified with vivian from pretty woman. hooker duds are where it's at, obviously. speaking of hookers, i need you to know that i finally figured out what polyvore is, and it is amazing. goodbye, any free time i had left! this is my first polyvore board, so PLEASE BE NICE. i call it FROLICSOME HOOKER. and yes, i would wear all of those accessories at once, probably with my OPI mermaid's tears nail polish.
