interiors, halloween style.

happiest of halloweens, y'all! after all, the world is ending so this is obv. the last one, right? i hope you did it up right like me, because i'm dressed like a chicken (aka super sexy chicken) and it's been a real crowd-pleaser, even without sugarbear in his companion costume of colonel sanders (images for your enjoyment are below). also please check in tomorrow for some EXTREMELY HUGE NEWS. spoiler alert: no, i am not pregnant.

i wanted to share this spooktactular image, ripped unabashedly from jenny's blog post (myfavoriteandmybest) on leather sofas (ps-you are a killer photo finder, jenny). not only is the sofa hot enough to kill you and then also bring you back from the dead, there is a....cow-ostrich? like a jackelope frankenstein concoction, just lurking in the corner keeping the painted, human version of mrs. potato head company. also for debate: is that a robot on the right? so all this photo lacks to make it truly halloween-y is morticia adams draped over the leather tufting and maybe some jack o'lant-age. but trust when i say i'd like to live here all 365 days of the year.
as promised, here's the chicken costume in all it's feathery glory, circa 2008. props to b-radical for being such a good sport and rocking a linen suit from phat farm.

crazy designers are the best designers.

this is like, S O O L D. but i've been meaning to post because it is super cray, and i just have an overwhelming obsession with insanity. by the selby: herve pierre - creative director for carolina herrera - at his home - new york city - june 16th 2010. i am obsessed with the wackadoo (borderline creepy) glove curtain tie-backs, the positively brilliant use of cardboard as something fancy, and if i don't find a tiny baby chair to hold my toilet paper soon, i might die.

jorge manuel: a bridal wonderland.

i've made no attempt to hide my deep and abiding love for all things COSTUME, and i would be lying if i said i wasn't dying to see the new tim burton/johnny depp version of alice in wonderland (in theaters this march!). i also may or may not have channeled gwen stefani one halloween, while she was in the middle of her alice-in-wonderland-meets-harajuku-girl phase. HOWEVER, i'm deeply conflicted by the following photos of the demetrius wedding collection by jorge manuel. on the one hand, refer to my aforementioned comments on how much i heart alice in wonderland. on the other hand, these pictures border on SUPER CREEPY, right? and it's a wedding shoot, correct? regardless, jorge manuel gets extra credit AND bonus points for this original, fascinating and gorgeous photo madness. click here to see more photos.

munchausen by proxy & and zooey deschanel.

i've hinted before of my undying love for zooey deschanel, but my girl crush just intensified... aside from being stylish and adorable, homegirl also has some pipes and has managed to get completely immersed in all things music. first of all, zooey teamed up with musician m. ward under the band name she & him. last year, she married one of the best musicians of our TIME (ben gibbard of death cab for cutie, the postal service and about ten other bands). confused yet? good.today i found out about a fake band she's a part of, called munchausen by proxy, which is/was a collaboration with a band called von iva for zooey's movie YES MAN (sidenote: no one actually saw that movie, right? and who the hell is picking these movies for zooey, anyway? except for 500 days of summer, they all BLOW. end sidenote). anyway, MBProxy recorded some songs (i think five total, if you count the star-spangled banner), and you can thank your lucky stars that all of them are on youtube. the outfits alone make it worth watching the videos and i'm DEFFO going to need the flamingo and big bird outfit come halloween. audrey-want to do another halloween as feathered friends?

slut-o-ween: you put a spell on me.

man. is it just me or were the sluuuuuts out in record numbers last night? let me start by saying I LOVE COSTUMES, which is why halloween has always been my favorite holiday. i also don't really have a huge problem with sluts. if you've got it, sister, show it off. all of it. so i would like to go on the record as fully for costumes, no matter how inappropriate they are. at least you're in a costume, even if i can see your wizard's sleeve, even if you're freezing your nalgas off. but all compliments aside... the quality of the costumes was pretty bad. i know halloween has been a whore's christmas for awhile, but if you're going to dress like a hooker, why dress as a cheap hooker? why don't you go down to, i dunno, SEARS and get yourself a several-sizes too small negligee of sorts, and add your angel wings and halo to that? at least it wouldn't melt if you got too close to a jack-o'lantern. and a personal note to costume-making companies: could you not spend a dollar more in the construction phase for some real buttons, instead of the ones that are drawn on? shame on you. if they can make and sell a SNUGGIE for $15 at target (free LED booklight included!) could you not step it up a teensy bit in regard to quality?

i also saw several ladies dressed as dominatrix's (or, as spell-checker says, dominatrices, but i'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you did not already know the plural form of dominatrix.) and i'm not sure i get it. on the one hand, is that really a costume? i understand the naughty angel: she's in a costume as an angel, but just happens to be a veeeerry sexy one. but dominatrix? on the other hand, kudos for purchasing a costume you can use all year 'round. we are in a recession, after all.

i was a very historically accurate native american. it was a great way to justify the purchase of these boots:
so update your list. miley cyrus, audrina patridge and ME, that's who owns a pair of these bad boys. i can't can't caaaaaan't wait to get them on a dance floor.
