big red.

i have always thought red hair was pretty awesome, dating back to my steamy first-grade relationship with one cody burkholder and my life-long obsession with anne of green gables, but these two gals really make the rest of us look like trolls. let's hear it for gingers. 2% of the world's population is looking 100% awesome.{16-year old olivia bee for twigs and honey via elizabeth dye}

it should be noted that one time, a blind person told me that i looked just like nicole kidman, and although i look ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like her, in departments Hair, Body or Face, i have always treasured that compliment as one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me.

hats off to dancing.

in the midst of all the wedding stress and regrets upon Not Eloping, i have found a silver lining to the cloud i like to call WEDDING PREPARATIONS CAN SUCK IT DOT COM, also known as WHAT THE FUCK WERE WE THINKING. as it turns out, deeeeeeeep down, i am still extremely excited RE: wedding due to the dancefloor mash-oligist that will be responsible for the blisters on everyone's feet come october 24th: the human jukebox, aka michael antonia. aside from being really good on the ones and twos (dj words!), THJ routinely surfaces in some of the more rad headgear i've ever seen. don't worry-i've already requested that the chapeau du jour accompany the human jukebox to austin. BYO dr. scholls.

in the event that you (have also become jaded and) are (no longer) looking forward to my wedding (either), here are some things you can anticipate seeing. of course, these were taken when i was a mere guest book attendant. obviously, as the bride, i plan to turn the Volume On My Moves up a few notches. after all, it's about to be me o'clock.

going to the cathedral, gonna get married.

for awhile, i've been agonizing over what to do for a wedding veil. not real agony, mind you, but the kind of agony you have when you are a) a super crafty person who can make wedding veils, and b) have made veils for several other brides, and c) have no intention of spending upwards of $250 for one to go on your own head because d) your common-law husband slash fiance would have a serious, dealbreaker problem with that. i really thought it was in the cards for me to wear one of those kicky birdcage veils, with the flowers and the rhinestones, but as it turns out, i was mistaken.

turns out, after i saw photos of (way amazinger) fellow blogger persephone (and steve)'s wedding, photographed by (also extremely fantastic) fellow blogger peonies and polaroids, that i should be wearing a double cathedral-length veil. for the record, those blogs are what possessed me, peonies and polaroids, and lillian and leonard, respectively. so come october, i'm going to be sporting THE BIGGEST VEIL YOU'VE EVER SEEN, which will fall into my 'something borrowed' category; credit: persephone. future updates will be given regarding the etsy vendor that i'll prolly recruit to make said veil, since i've had it Up. To. Here. with my DIY wedding projects, but for now, please enjoy these extremely delightful shots of mongo cathedral veils. persephone, shot by peonies, is first. what a dish, right? and srsly, that top hat and the gloves on mom.... nine kinds of awesome.

thumbs up for crazy: louis, kate and jlo.

for the record, i am fully in favor of capes (all kinds), especially crazy graphic capes like this louis vuitton number worn recently by the forever perplexing kate hudson. also, i am digging this plus-size hair, courtesy of jenny from the block. you know she's got at least one of her creepy twins hidden in there. ps, jlo-feel free to send me that necklace. {pictures via dlisted and style.com}

bouquets worn on your head: all the rage in 2010. i probably need to own that dress on the left, though.

setting the record straight: lady gaga edition.

i know i've been unclear in the past, but as of today, i'm OFFICIALLY on board the crazy lady gaga train. why the hell not? her songs are catchy and she rolls around the globe in her underpants looking like a bean bag chair exploded on her. not sure if the teeth are part of the get-up, but overall, her wardrobe choices are mesmerizing. hear that, gaga? I GET IT. it's performance art, and you're dressed as the offspring of winter personified and a 1950's milkman.{images via dlisted and blemish}

wedding hair: suggestions welcome.

(i'm experiencing some creative drought over here, so i'm falling back on youtube videos and wedding posts. YAWN. sorry, nine loyal readers. let's work through this together.)

when it comes to my wedding weave, i would really love to wear my hair down. however, i have tresses the exact consistency of TROLL DOLL HAIR, and it is always in a ridiculous tangle. i need to consult with my stylist to make sure it's possible, but i'm really hoping to rock a fancy, somewhat messy version of the side pony tail or side pony BUN (not to be confused with the casual side ponytail i wear every other day)(a look brad has dubbed the CAS' PO). i'm talking about a GIANT, texas-sized side pony tail with some shit stuck in there for flare. maybe brooches, maybe a giant bow, maybe some russian birdcage veil, maybe a combo. we'll see what ban.do comes out with in the next few collections. they are pretty brilliant at setting the hair accessory trends, after all. any thoughts?
{photos (in order) via tumblr, style me pretty, the modern type, ben blood and i'm blanking on the last one; all via my favorite wedding blogs... i'm sorry i didn't keep better track as i was feverishly stashing these images in my WEDDING HAIR folder}

winter hat!

i recently discovered our ski trip in park city coincides with SUNDANCE. you know, the film festival? so i guess skiing will be out of the question, because i don't need anything cutting into my celebrity stalking time. what i do need, however, is this hat. stay warm and get noticed at the same time? yes, please.
i'm sorry to admit that i have no idea where this image originated.
