sneak peek: loftacular.

i used to live in a pretty rad loft downtown, during my single, bud light-and-twizzler days, and it was supes sads to leave the space behind (but i moved in with b-rad, so SILVER LINING). fortunately, i've gotten to design several great loft spaces of late, like this one you've seen previously and also one that got photographed on valentimes day, featuring custom wing chairs that are totally the cat's meeeeooooow. just kidding; that cat is glaring, but only because these chairs up 'n stole her catthunder. stay tuned FO MO.

the prickly pair.

these prickly pear cacti lamps are amazing and totally remind me of my west texas college days (WILDCATS, OW OW!). at $1,600 for the pair, they're....... almost reasonable? it is the dibs, after all. oh wait, lampshades not included? dicks!! WEALTHY FRIENDS, buy them for me here.

(no) gamine chic (for you).

are y'all excited about jason wu for target or what? yeah, me neither, kind of. i mean, the collection is cute and all... is it just me, or does it seem less an event than normal? is target trying to avoid whipping everyone into a frenzy like last time? perhaps post-missoni, no one wants to get their hopes up for all those sad empty racks. or maybe it's the use of all those cats in the ads. i've found that cats are pretty polarizing, and most people HATE cats. unless it's cat paint, or cat shirts? people love cat shirts. anyway, here is judy (one of our three bastard cats) doing her best jason wu impersonation.

and yes, that was the best she had. i would like to point out that it took me about 3 hours to get that photo, so i hope you enjoyed it, because i sustained minor injuries whilst tying the bow around that ho-bag.

anway. here is the J-Wu target collection, via style.com. if you're in the mood to get your hopes up and then be super disappointed because it's all sold out, this shit hits the fan on february 5th.

frolicsome.

after a long weekend of shredding and internet browsing, i'm fully recharged (albeit a little sleepy), completely inspired and ready to rock. this wood-cut quote (above) kind of sums it up. also i bought these pants in park city so i'm totes on the prowl. MEEEEEEE-OW, mo-fo's. these pants are like frolicsome and dangerous and noble and improbable all rolled into one and then personified.

i consider them step one of many in an effort to be more frolicsome, but b-rad describes them as 'daytime hooker-wear'. little does he know, i have ALWAYS identified with vivian from pretty woman. hooker duds are where it's at, obviously. speaking of hookers, i need you to know that i finally figured out what polyvore is, and it is amazing. goodbye, any free time i had left! this is my first polyvore board, so PLEASE BE NICE. i call it FROLICSOME HOOKER. and yes, i would wear all of those accessories at once, probably with my OPI mermaid's tears nail polish.

Steve.

during my senior year of college, i bought my first apple computer-my first computer ever, actually-from a guy named geoff chin, who worked in the acu campus store. it was the iMac G4, with the white rounded base and the 15-inch LCD screen on a rotating arm, and it was the coolest thing any of us had ever seen.

that day felt like the future.
"We don’t get a chance to do that many things, and every one should be really excellent. Because this is our life.

Life is brief, and then you die, you know?

And we’ve all chosen to do this with our lives. So it better be damn good. It better be worth it."

a very talented wildcat.

jeff rogers is a graphic designer and illustrator, and just so happens to have been an acu wildcat university classmate of mine*. he's always been extremely talented (which is why i pretend that we were/are super best friends, instead of people with lots of classes together that kind of stayed in touch thanks to the facebook) and his recent paintings for the ace hotel are getting a ton of (much deserved) attention and praise. jeff uses a great deal of typography and letterforms in his work, which i'm very drawn to (pun fully intended) and i have spent the better part of my saturday morning rifling through every bit of his website, which you should check out. jeff said he's got plans to open an etsy shop at some point (the sooner, the better, dude. hustle.) so if i catch wind of that, i'll post the news right here. you know, because millions of people read this blog and i am very cutting edge and on the pulse of everything that happens news-wise.
jeff's website here.
*there are a ton of talented people that were part of the graphic design program while i was in college, like jeff. or these guys. or this guy, to name a few. not everyone turned out to be a graphic designer, but i was surrounded by incredible creative minds and immeasurable talent. i like to think that someday, the bauhaus movement of abilene will have better recognition.
