sundance and the celebrity experience.

should you ever desire to mix your skiing with a side of FAME (because we all want to live forever), plan a trip to park city, utah, during the sundance film festival. we were here last year for straight skiing, inadvertently during part of R. Red's indie festapalooza. a happy accident, i assure you, since the trip was planned by manly, masculine males who would never, intentionally or admittedly, schedule a trip based on MAXIMUM celebrity sightings. however, for the ladies* on the trip, it (the skiing and the stalking) was a genuine delight, which is why we are BACK. the slopes are virtually abandoned during the days and the excitement of potentially running into a C-list (or better) celeb fuels the night. 2011 has thus yielded rob lowe and mary mcdonnell and possibly laura dern (we couldn't be sure). today on the slopes, i ran into channing tatum and JUSTIN TIMBERLAAAAAAAKE. if only it had been at the same time, so i could have instigated a mountainside dance-off.
last year, i was shocked to find myself in a private conversation with matthew fox, aka jack from lost, aka charlie from party of five, aka one super deliciouso piece of manmeat. we later chatted it up with catherine keener, before getting locked in a coffee shop with paris hilton and her aggressive staff of bodyguards. we also spotted (but did not have opportunity to do anything but gape at) paul dano, from there will be blood and little miss sunshine; taryn manning, from one of the best movies ever, hustle and flow; THE oliver stone aaaaaaaaaand the one and only simon rex, who was swarmed by teenage girls and their mothers, clearly not familiar with his high level of nastiness. sundance is excitin', y'all!
*mainly me. i am very obsessed with the famous.
