this saturday, we were like WHY RELAX WHEN WE CAN HAVE A MAJOR IMPROMPTU PHOTOSHOOT? because really, that is how things are going around here. it was kind of the best worst time to do the photo shoot, with our photographer's hectic schedule and our pending MOVE deadlines coming up later this month (uh, teaser? we are moving? i am working on a new CRIBS post for youipromise), so we did it, fancy diptyque candles, florals et all. as any good designer knows, nothing spices up a room setting like some animal, which was perfect, since we live in a zoo*. dog supermodels steve and ginger needed a little coaxing, and steve may or may not have nervously peed all over the new sheets that i effing ironed just for the shoot, but check out how cute they are! also, the photos turned out ridiculously amazing, and i can't wait to share the whole house.
*not pictured: any of the three cats, who were likely preoccupied by sharpening their claws the new sofa.

it's all happening: logo edition.
unbeknownst to the the outside world, things have been cranking away behind the scenes at kristina wilson design (uh, unless the world is following me on instagram, because i spill the beans almost daily over there. follow me on instagram, y'all: kristinawonders). we have been getting the website ready, hiring folks to join the team, planning for a new office, buying giant computers and fancy software that makes life easier, styling epic photo shoots and designing up a storm for amazing clientele. it's a lot of moving parts and these things take time, but i'm pretty jazzed to officially unleash a small part of the action today: the new logo.
SO GOOD, RIGHT??? i mean, i'm certainly biased, but those snakes are f.i.e.r.c.e. i'm debating between arm band or tramp stamp, but regardless, these snakes are going to make one sick tattoo.
what's weird is, i've constantly had dreams about snakes (and flying, but you know... off-topic), which have increased considerably since starting this business. aside from being the year of the snake, snake dreams, as it turns out, represent the dreamer's creative urge toward wisdom and indicate that the previous day's activities were involved some sort of creative pursuit (at least according to the internet).
so snakes = creativity, which is both awesome and a rad coincidence, because you know i just happened upon that shit post-logo. more ferocity and coincidence headed your way soon, folks, so stay tuned.

sneak peek: loftacular.
i used to live in a pretty rad loft downtown, during my single, bud light-and-twizzler days, and it was supes sads to leave the space behind (but i moved in with b-rad, so SILVER LINING). fortunately, i've gotten to design several great loft spaces of late, like this one you've seen previously and also one that got photographed on valentimes day, featuring custom wing chairs that are totally the cat's meeeeooooow. just kidding; that cat is glaring, but only because these chairs up 'n stole her catthunder. stay tuned FO MO.

interiors, halloween style.
happiest of halloweens, y'all! after all, the world is ending so this is obv. the last one, right? i hope you did it up right like me, because i'm dressed like a chicken (aka super sexy chicken) and it's been a real crowd-pleaser, even without sugarbear in his companion costume of colonel sanders (images for your enjoyment are below). also please check in tomorrow for some EXTREMELY HUGE NEWS. spoiler alert: no, i am not pregnant.
i wanted to share this spooktactular image, ripped unabashedly from jenny's blog post (myfavoriteandmybest) on leather sofas (ps-you are a killer photo finder, jenny). not only is the sofa hot enough to kill you and then also bring you back from the dead, there is a....cow-ostrich? like a jackelope frankenstein concoction, just lurking in the corner keeping the painted, human version of mrs. potato head company. also for debate: is that a robot on the right? so all this photo lacks to make it truly halloween-y is morticia adams draped over the leather tufting and maybe some jack o'lant-age. but trust when i say i'd like to live here all 365 days of the year.
as promised, here's the chicken costume in all it's feathery glory, circa 2008. props to b-radical for being such a good sport and rocking a linen suit from phat farm.

put an armadillo on it.
my amazing mother-in-law, who understands that i'm a total weirdo, surprised me with the CUTEST present ever: a kate spade armadillo coin purse. please note that hims tail is the zipper pull.
while we are on the subject, b-radical and i saw this in the houston airport terminal before our flight to nyc (and 3-hour delay!), and the logistics of getting it home safely was the only thing that kept us from making a serious investment. we may or may not have had some pre-flight cocktails.

new cushions from klaus haapaniemi.
i've been in love with klaus haapaniemi AND his animal drawings since forever, so it's no wonder that i nearly fell outta my chair when i saw his new pillows, which have trippy cranes and flowers all over them. seriously, y'all, we aren't even kind of tired of our amazing wedding china and this adorable finnish illustrating nugget has done it again RE: things i need up in my house. i could look at these magical animals ALL DAY, which makes this incarnation in pillow form extra perfect for daydreaming. you can buy these pillows for yourself (or for me) right here.

(no) gamine chic (for you).
are y'all excited about jason wu for target or what? yeah, me neither, kind of. i mean, the collection is cute and all... is it just me, or does it seem less an event than normal? is target trying to avoid whipping everyone into a frenzy like last time? perhaps post-missoni, no one wants to get their hopes up for all those sad empty racks. or maybe it's the use of all those cats in the ads. i've found that cats are pretty polarizing, and most people HATE cats. unless it's cat paint, or cat shirts? people love cat shirts. anyway, here is judy (one of our three bastard cats) doing her best jason wu impersonation.
and yes, that was the best she had. i would like to point out that it took me about 3 hours to get that photo, so i hope you enjoyed it, because i sustained minor injuries whilst tying the bow around that ho-bag.
anway. here is the J-Wu target collection, via style.com. if you're in the mood to get your hopes up and then be super disappointed because it's all sold out, this shit hits the fan on february 5th.

julia rothman: farm anatomy.
i gave my nieces and nephews (current total: six) julia rothman's new book for christmas (and i totally got one for m'self, duh). it's pretty much the cutest, most educational thing ever. every page is an illustrated cornucopia of farm knowledge, inspired and informed by her husband and in-laws (from rural iowa). don't you want to know about bees and barbed wires and how to plow a field? even if you don't have a natural inclination to agriculture, julia rothmans's illustrations are captivating. seriously, how do you not own this book already?

meat salad.
so i am on a diet. waaah-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. it's a FIERCE diet, y'all, and this is day three of diet ferocity. i've never been a dieter and i've never really kept track of what i'm eating, so for me, this is considerable torture. diets (the kind where you have a set plan and you don't cheat) = FOOD JAIL. i love vegetables, but it is common knowledge that prior to shacking up with sugarbear, i consisted for years on a steady diet of bud light and twizzlers. brad's amazing chef skillz and the transition from BL's to wine, combined with the zero amount of restraint on my part has turned me into a soft-shelled mcfattie, and i need to make some lifestyle changes prior to our hawaii trip next month. also my office is down the street from a mcdonald's so i eat there like three times a week. okay four.
the first three days of food jail arekind of a complete kick in the pants. (this is probably a good time to tell you that part of this diet includes no alcohol). the first three days are also sort of a dressing down into what will become a healthy, well-rounded meal plan with plenty of vitamins and nutrients, but if you have been anywhere near me these three days, you know that i've renamed this phase MEAT SALAD. during this phase, you can have a ton of meat and you can have a ton of green veggies (uh, RAW. they have to be raw and they have to be green.), but after two or three meals of meat salad, plus no chocolate or jelly beans or cookies or WINE, you get a little weird and cranky. there are also these powder supplement things you put into your nine gallons of daily water drinking, and for the first few days i was not putting them in enough water. they are berry flavor and bright red, so i named those BLOOD DRINK, although they are much better and not thick like blood when you add them to the proper amount of water (2 gallons). turns out that they also come in lemon-lime (those are also called blood drink, for sake of continuity) and they are full of crack rock supplements that give you the energy to keep going as you rachet down your food intake.
i lost track of where i am going with this story (no crack rock blood drinks after 2pm or else), but i thought i'd give you all fair warning. steve and ginger have really started to look like turkey legs during the time we've spent together so i imagine you're next, if this cartoon is any indication.

thrifted and modern.
if your preference for togs falls in the rare and generally bad-A category, if you have a deep and unabiding love for vintage or prefer to fill your closet with all things caftan, you probably need to be shopping thrifted and modern. ZOMG. there is old stuff and there is new stuff, but i'm prettttttyyyyy inclined to the thrifted portion m'self, so if T&M is looking to hook a gal up, i will totally take that lace peony caftan off your san fran hands. or i could settle for the raccoon tail cape, because let's face it: i think we would all be a lot happier rolling through life covered in caftans and racoon tails.
